Sam Pittman reveals backstory of Razorback statue at his Lake Hamilton house
Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman has intended to retire a Razorback since the day he took the job, so it’s no wonder why he commissioned a statue of two hogs for his Lake Hamilton house months before inking his contract extension. At SEC Media Days, Pittman shared the backstory on the statue, which he posted on social media in March, before signing his new deal in June.
The Hog statue was initially a statue of a marlin with a fisherman catching it on its pole. However, days after the Pittmans purchased the lakehouse, a storm damaged the marlin. The marlin’s water feature led the Head Hog to imagine a slobbering hog statue with water coming out of its mouth.
“The insurance company came through,” Pittman joked. “Brandon White was the guy I called about the hog and he made it into, unbelievable, this thing is incredible. It had lights, whatever color lights you want. It looks like he’s slobbering down into the lake.”
The statue at the Pittman house is similar to the one found outside of the Razorback stadium. That one has six Hogs though, instead of two. It’s hard for anyone to miss his 6,924-square foot home with the hogs hanging out by the edge of the lake. And the landmark has already garnered a lot of attention.

“Now, there are boats on parade coming by the house down there and calling the hogs,” Pittman said. “They try to get on it. There are signs that say, ‘Don’t get on the hog,’ but there are a few people that do. I wish they’d read the sign.”
Pittman adds Hog statue to future retirement house
The 60-year-old Razorbacks coach intends to retire to the house on Lake Hamilton once he’s done coaching in Fayetteville. His contract extension keeps him on through at least 2026. However, if Pittman reaches seven wins in any season going forward (including a bowl win versus a Power 5 or Top 25 opponent), the contract automatically adds another year, potentially keeping him in Fayetteville through 2027.
Given that the Razorbacks went 8-4 in the 2021 regular season and notched another win over Penn State in the Outback Bowl, things are looking good for Sam Pittman’s additional year in 2027.
