In Week 3, the Arkansas Razorbacks will host one of the Big 12’s recent additions, the BYU Cougars. This will be the second game in the two program’s one-and-one series. Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman and company bested BYU on their home field last season 52-35. And will look to do it again in Fayetteville on Saturday.

But before Arkansas handles business on the field, the program has a little team-building planned. According to the Razorbacks’ headman, the scheduled event is a tradition that dates back to this time at Georgia.

“We got a movie set up; I can’t remember the name of it -Denzel Washington,” said Pittman. “You can’t go wrong whatever it is. So we’re going to go to the movies Friday night.

“The first time we went on the road and played in that night game, we went to the movies and we won, didn’t we? Didn’t we beat Mississippi State? So that was kind of a staple. We did it all the time when I was at Georgia. If it’s a night game, you go to the movies.”

The Razorbacks are playing in a night game on Saturday, allowing the team to stay out a little bit later for this team bonding exercise. But it also changes the itinerary for Saturday, adding the opportunity for an extra team meal before the game. As he continued, Pittman outlined Arkansas’ schedule leading up to the game.

“For a night game versus a day game, you would get up a little later, you’d have one meal, a team walk, then you would come back with some meetings, you’d have a lengthier break in between the meetings, and when you come back for the walkthroughs.”

Sam Pittman provides update on Dwight McGlothern

After dealing with some turf toe following Arkansas‘ Week 2 win over Kent State, head coach Sam Pittman had a positive update on cornerback Dwight McGlothern. After getting back to practice this week, Pittman expects he’ll play on Saturday.

It’s an apt time to get a key defender back in the line up as Arkansas hosts BYU on Saturday night. Barring any setbacks, McGlothern will be back out there for the Razorbacks.

“He’s practiced both days. He’s still got a little tenderness in that toe but I believe that he’ll be ready to play on Saturday,” Pittman said.

The defensive back will be needed for an upcoming stretch of big games for Arkansas: BYU, LSUTexas A&MOle Miss and Alabama are all on the schedule between now and the middle of October, a brutal and critical stretch of games for the Razorbacks.
