When Sam Pittman became the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks, he was able to improve and stabilize the program after it struggled under Chad Morris. He also, quickly, became a well liked head coach among a passionate fanbase.

One well known fan, Canaan Sandy, went to the game against Ole Miss in Oxford and posted on social media that he had some problems with opposing fans there. When asked about that, Pittman praised the passionate Arkansas fanbase while also saying that what happened to Sandy was unfortunate.

“It’s Arkansas. You don’t want to ever go and take it for granted,” Sam Pittman said. “Ever since I’ve been here and went to Ole Miss, we’ve had a whole lot of fans [have problems]. It’s unfortunate if Canaan Sandy got mistreated. It’s very, very unfortunate. What a wonderful man.”

It’s been a difficult season for Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks, as they currently sit at 2-4. Still, after Arkansas’ road game in Tuscaloosa, it’s going to be good to get home and play in front of those fans.

“There is passion for the Hogs, and with that comes the positives and the negatives because passion means passion. It doesn’t mean positive passion. I understand that it comes with the territory. I would much rather have it that way than have nobody care about the program. We’re very, very appreciative of the fans. We’ll see it when we finally get back home after 30 something days away from home. We’ll finally get to feel the passion of the fans once again,” Pittman said.

“But we’re very, very grateful. Very, very thankful for them.”

Sam Pittman on the value of Dan Enos returning to Alabama

Current Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos previously worked as an assistant under Nick Saban at Alabama. With that in mind, Sam Pittman spoke about the value of Enos returning to Tuscaloosa this weekend.

“I don’t necessarily think there would be an advantage. Because of the length of time but also, we’ve been playing Alabama for a long time. I’ve been in the league for a long time as well. It’s not schematics that necessarily that you’re aware of with Alabama. It’s the players that are doing it and how well they’re coached. So, I don’t know that they would be at an advantage there,” Pittman said.

“I’m sure Dan is excited to go back over there and see some of his old friends and compete against them.”
