Sam Pittman shares biggest change Arkansas needs to make
Arkansas started out 3-0 with a win over a ranked Cincinnati team this football season. Since, they’ve lost three straight SEC games, the latest coming by 23 to Mississippi State. So the Hogs need to makes changes and fast to salvage what’s left of their season.
At his press conference this week, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman addressed the several issues plaguing the team over their losing streak. He first emphasized starting faster in games to avoid playing from behind.
“We’re not starting fast and we need to get some early emotion, and that could happen with scoring early, getting a three-and-out, something like that we haven’t done over the last two weeks. So we’re talking a lot about that.”
Sam Pittman also noted the team is practicing differently. Like he did way back when he was in high school, apparently.
“We’re practicing different. Basically, we’re practicing a little bit like I did when I was in high school and and we’re going good-on-good. We’re doing that. We did that Monday, we did do it Tuesday, we’re going to do it again today. And just kind of continue when the whistle blows. We’ve got to play. We don’t have time to wait around. So that’s been a little bit of a change this week.”

He then added that losing always worries him when in comes to his team’s mindset. However, he’s optimistic his team will respond the right away after all the adversity.
“But you always worry about your team when they lose. We lose, but I don’t think we have a confidence problem. Certainly we’re not overconfident. But I don’t think you worry about…do you believe in each other?, confidence, all those things you worry about.”
“I don’t think that’s the case. We’re trying to figure out the why. And we’ve got several reasons of why, and one of them was me and and our coaches. We’ve got to continue to get better. Some of it is turning the ball over and things of that nature. And not converting and not tackling and some of those things. So we know the why. We just got to practice better to cure the problem. I think that includes the coaches. We’re in this thing, we got in this thing together and we’ll get out of it together. That’s kind of what it’s been this week.”
