Sam Pittman unhappy with Arkansas' physicality level
Arkansas suffered their third straight loss last weekend at the hands of Texas A&M in Dallas. However, for Sam Pittman, it’s less about the defeats and more so about how they’re coming about for the Razorbacks.
Pittman addressed the ‘Hog’s physicality, or lack thereof, during his postgame press conference on Saturday. He went back game by game and made it fairly evident that it hasn’t been a consistent positive for Arkansas so far this fall.
“It’s certainly not where we want it to be, probably didn’t look very good today,” Pittman said. “I would say last week? Better than today. I’d say the week before? Not very good. Probably the week before that? Not very good. The first game? How do you know.”
Texas A&M ended up doing a number on Arkansas over the course of the 12-point win inside AT&T Stadium.
On offense, the Razorbacks were only able to put up 42 total rushing yards, or 1.1 per carry, while also taking seven sacks. Meanwhile, on defense, the Aggies rushed for almost five times their yardage with 204 while not allowing a single sack on the day to Arkansas.
For the third straight week, Arkansas did some positive things that gave them chances to win. For the third straight week, though, Pittman’s squad came up short with physicality being a decent-sized issue to the ‘Hog’s head coach.
“So, to answer your question, not very good – which you knew the answer to that question, I think,” said Pittman.
Pittman shares positive update on John Morgan
John Morgan was stretchered off the field against Texas A&M after suffering a neck injury. Having a couple of days to recover after the terrifying incident, Sam Pittman provided a surprisingly positive update on Morgan’s condition.

“John, I talked to him Saturday night when we got back. He was in great spirits,” Pittman said during his weekly presser on Monday. “He had another test this afternoon that I haven’t heard the results of that yet. Or is having one (Monday) afternoon. He hasn’t had the test, so how could you get the results? But he’s in great spirits. Honestly, I think he got hit (in the jaw), like a punch. But I would think that he would have an opportunity to play this week.”
Before being loaded into the ambulance at the game on Saturday, the SEC Network’s Alyssa Lang revealed that Morgan was talking and was able to move. Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek told Lang at the time that he was dealing with tenderness and pain in the neck after it was snapped back during the play.
Morgan is in his first year with Arkansas after transferring from Pitt over the offseason. With the Panthers, he appeared in 12 games and made five starts last season. He totaled 19 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks as a redshirt senior.
Through four games this season before entering Saturday’s game against Texas A&M, Morgan totaled four tackles and 2.0 sacks.
