Arkansas enters the week off with plenty of players needing the time to rest and get healthy. Speaking on the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday, head coach Sam Pittman shared updates on the laundry list of injuries, including to starting quarterback Taylen Green.

Green left the Razorbacks’ upset win against Tennessee with a knee injury. On Wednesday, Pittman said the quarterback avoided any structural damage to the knee or ligaments holding it together and would be “day-to-day” going forward.

“We don’t think it’s an MCL, now,” Pittman said. “More of a bone bruise. And very, very sore on him. Hopefully he’ll be back by LSU. It’ll kind of be day-to-day right now. But our diagnosis was not any ligament damage.”

If Green can’t play against LSU in Week 8, Malachi Singleton is likely to start in his stead.

Beyond Green, Arkansas has plenty of other players who are banged up either from recent injuries or as they work back from earlier ailments. Two of them, offensive lineman Patrick Kutas and defensive back Jaylon Braxton, fit in the latter category but are close to returning, Pittman said.

“We’ll we’re certainly hoping they can come back,” Pittman said. “Kutas practiced yesterday, will practice again today. Braxton will be ready by Thursday. So hopefully we can get some of those guys back.”

The Razorbacks also have some backfield injuries, as Rodney Hill and Rashod Dubinion are both banged up to varying degrees.

“Rodney we expect to be back by Monday, probably not this week. By Monday. And R Dub had a couple of nice runs and a pass catch out of the backfield. He’s been practicing well,” Pittman said. “He was hurt, his time was cut because he had been injured. The week before his suspension, he had a really good practice week and then coming back off of that, he’s had a really good practice week. It’s good to see him out there and if he’ll continue — he will — he’ll continue to have good practices, he’ll continue to see the field more.”

Even on special teams the Razorbacks are dinged up.

Kicker Kyle Ramsey is likely out for an extended period, Pittman said, meaning punter Matthew Shipley, who made a FG in the upset win on Saturday, will take over kicking duties.

“Well I’m just proud of Shipley to come in and it wasn’t a long field goal, but he made it. And made the extra points and so I was proud of him to come out there and do that. Ramsey has a significant injury so he’s going to be out for a while so those kicking duties will go to Shipley.
