Trevon Brazile injury update: John Calipari addresses Arkansas forward's limitations vs. Troy
Trevon Brazile exited the first half of Arkansas’ game on Wednesday with an ankle injury that kept him out for the remainder of the game.
Following the 65-49 victory over Troy, John Calipari provided the latest on the forward for the ‘Hogs. He said that the ankle had swelled up on Brazile to the point of the training staff thinking it best to not check him back in last night.
“It was his ankle. I don’t know,” said Calipari. “He said it swelled a little bit and they weren’t comfortable with him going in.”
Brazile twisted the ankle as he came down in the paint after a possession. He then had some assistance as he walked off of the floor with him getting work on the bench. His health history may have also played a role in the decision to call it a game for him in just their third outing of the season.
Calipari says he did ask about Brazile as the Razorbacks’ frontcourt depth took another loss with him sidelined. With that, their team had to adjust with who they had playing low for the rest of the game.

“I did ask, ‘Can you give us three minutes so Z doesn’t have to play all 20?’. Then I said, ‘Okay, Z has a problem playing in war games. Who’s going to play the five?’. We said Adou. Then you have Billy, Karter – you still are pretty big. But, you know.”
In nine minutes before leaving, Brazile did put up four points, five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks for Arkansas. Through three games, he is averaging 4.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals while shooting at 58.3% overall.
Jonas Aidoo also only played for four minutes in the game off of the bench. With that, Thiero and Ivisic saw most of the minutes in the frontcourt. Both played well as they tied one another for the team-high in scoring with 19 on 60.9% shooting combined. Thiero also had a team-high of seven rebounds while Ivisic had career-best night with the points plus six three-pointers, five blocks, and three steals.
Arkansas won’t take the court again until Monday with last night being the first of a four-game stretch of non-conference play inside Bud Walton Arena. That’ll give a weekend to Brazile to heal up in order to not miss any more time for the ‘Hogs.
