Tyson Foods and Arkansas Athletics have a strong relationship spearheaded by company CEO and Razorbacks alumni John Tyson. But on Tuesday the multinational food processing corporation took their ties with the Razorbacks to another level.

Tyson revealed the release of ‘Razorback Nuggets’ on Tuesday donning the shape of Arkansas’ iconic mascot. Available in select Walmart stores in Northwest Arkansas and Missouri just in time for college football season.

“When Arkansas fans cheer on our teams this season they will be inspired by their passion for the Hogs and fueled by the new Tyson® Razorback™ Nuggets,” Arkansas Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek, said. “With these two iconic Arkansas brands teaming up, the Razorback™ Nation will be primed and ready to ‘Call the Hogs’ from pre-game to post-game while showing their loyal support of our more than 460 Razorback™ student-athletes.”

Along with bringing Arkansas into the nugget game, John Tyson played a crucial role in bringing new Arkansas head basketball coach John Calipari to the Razorbacks this offseason. A super booster who boasts a net worth of over $2 billion and received a standing ovation ahead of Calipari’s introductory press conference. With Calipari inking a five-year deal with Arkansas that begins at $7 million per season after spending 15 seasons at Kentucky.

Tyson’s headquarters reside in Northwest Arkansas, a company that started on humble beginnings with the current CEO’s grandfather John W. Tyson moving his family to Arkansas and delivering farm-raised chickens from his truck in the 1930s. And nearly a century later Tyson Foods has now made it’s presence felt in the college athletics space in a remarkable way

“Tyson Foods is in Razorback® Country, most of our team members are huge Razorback® fans and our consumers have been calling for a way to celebrate their team. We’ve listened and are excited to deliver Tyson® Razorback™ Nuggetsto Arkansas fans in time for the football season,” said Kristina Lambert, SVP & GM Retail Value Added Poultry, Tyson Foods. “These nuggets are perfect for upcoming game day events and just in time for tailgating, so stock up!”

Arkansas fans will have to wait for Calipari to make his debut on the sidelines for the Razorbacks, but football season is right around the corner for the Hogs. Kicking off on Thursday, August 29 when Arkansas will face Arkansas Pine-Bluff at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. As fans may officially have a new favorite tailgate snack in Fayetteville moving forward.
