WATCH: Dylan Leach completes historic night for Razorbacks with home run
Arkansas baseball saw a pair of rare feats from the same player on Tuesday night when backup catcher Dylan Leach hit for the cycle and added home runs from either side of the plate in a 21-9 win over Central Arkansas. Despite entering the game with just one hit this season, the sophomore rattled off five in a row from the ninth spot in the order.
Dylan Leach got his cycle started early, knocking out the most difficult of the hits with a two-run triple in the second inning. In the third inning, he then laid down a bunt to reach first and record a single. The fourth inning saw him hit a double to right field as the runs kept scoring for the Razorbacks.
“It happens in baseball,” Leach said after the game. “Today just happened, I was blacked out during the game. I thank God, seriously, because he put me where I was supposed to be.”
With just the home run left to seal his first career cycle, Leach stepped to the plate in the sixth inning for a two-run home run from the left side of the plate. As a switch hitter, his day was not done yet as he stepped into the right-handed batter’s box and delivered another home run.
