Arkansas softball advanced to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament, but also made a little extra history along the way with its 9-3 win against Oregon on Sunday. After going 3-0 on the weekend with a pair of wins over the Ducks and a blowout win over Princeton, Arkansas set the program record for single-season wins with 47 to this point.

While the extra piece of history cements a spot in the record books and creates an extra talking point over the next week, Arkansas remains focused on the task ahead of marching through another round on the way to the Women’s College World Series.

Arkansas softball can add up to seven more wins to the record, making it more difficult to catch, with a national championship this season. However, the Razorbacks must first take care of business against the winner of the Seattle regional, which will come down to Texas or Washington on Sunday night.

Upsets in the NCAA Tournament

Arkansas survived the Fayetteville regional, making it through in the minimum number of games possible with three wins throughout the weekend. By taking care of business quickly, they created an advantage for themselves moving forward as one of the freshest teams left in the field.

Not every top team in the region made it out this weekend however, with several upsets across the country dominating the headlines. Alabama lost to Stanford in Tuscaloosa, Florida State lost to Mississippi State and Washington lost to Texas in Seattle.

With several of the top teams making an early exit, the Women’s College World Series is wide open for a hot team to come in and make some noise on their way to a potential national championship. Arkansas now sits in a position to become one of those teams with a Super Regional win.
