4-star RB J'Marion Burnette decommits from Auburn
Andalusia (Ala.) four-star running back J’Marion Burnette has decommitted from Auburn.
He was committed to the Tigers since March 24. The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder also had offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Texas. Burnette was Auburn’s lone tailback pledge in the Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class. RBs coach Cadillac Williams has led AU’s recruitment.
“I would like to thank the coaching staff at Auburn for allowing me to have an opportunity to play football at the next level. I would especially like to thank Coach Caddy for these past 2 years recruiting me and sticking with me,” Burnette wrote in a statement sent to On3. “As wonderful as Auburn is, it’s just not the place for me at this time. With that being said, I will be de-committing from Auburn University. Thank you. I love you all! War Eagle!”
Burnette is the No. 258 overall prospect and No. 20 RB in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 14 player in Alabama.
Burnette has an On3 NIL Valuation of $100K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Tigers still own top-20 recruiting class in 2024 cycle
With the loss of Burnette, Auburn now has 16 commits in its 2024 class. The Tigers’ class ranks No. 17 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.
