5-star power forward Yohan Traore commits to Auburn
Yohan Traore, the No. 6 overall prospect in the 2022 class has committed to the Auburn Tigers, he tells On3.
The five-star big man is the second-highest ranked prospect to choose the Tigers in the modern recruiting era, only behind Jabari Smith.
Traore is Auburn’s third commitment of the class, joining four-star CG Chance Westry and three-star PG Tre Donaldson.
The 6-foot-10 power forward out of Glendale (Ariz.) Dream City Christian decommitted from LSU earlier this month after the firing of Will Wade. He also received offers from Gonzaga, Michigan, Texas Tech, and others.

Once Traore’s recruitment was back open, Auburn immediately jumped on him and right away became the favorite to land his commitment. The staff had the French big man on campus a couple of weeks ago for a secret visit to tour the campus, meet with the coaches, and watch a practice, according to Auburn Live’s Jeffrey Lee. The following week, Bruce Pearl and Wes Flanigan flew to Arizona to meet with Traore and give him one last recruiting pitch. Since then, no other program has really stood a chance. It’s just been a waiting game for Traore to announce his commitment to the Tigers.
Traore on Auburn and Bruce Pearl
“I like Bruce Pearl,” Traore said. “I think he’s a great coach with experience with players at their four position, like Chuma Okeke, Isaac Okoro, JT Thor, and this year, Jabari so I think they will be able to develop my game.
“There was a family atmosphere (at Auburn),” Traore continued. “The players were cool too. Every day they’re going to push me to be the best. I think it’s going to be a great place and I trust the coaches.”
What goals does Traore have at Auburn?
“Win games and win March Madness,” he said confidently.
Traore’s message to Tigers fans?
“I’m going to do everything I can to make the team better. I’m willing to do anything.”
Scouting Report on Yohan Traore
“Strong frame. Broad shoulders. Moves feet well laterally. Can switch on screens, move feet with a perimeter guy. Good weakside shot blocker. Is comfortable facing up, can rip through and get downhill. Has developed his jump shot from 3-point range; is now a threat. An explosive vertical athlete. Runs the floor well. A solid rebounder can drift in and out at times here. Is undersized for a five. Moves in a unique manner for a 6-10. A native of France.” – Jamie Shaw, On3 National Recruiting Analyst
