Freshman EDGE Amaris Williams will stay with Auburn, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Williams previously announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal after one season with the program. Something must have changed, causing Williams to stay on the Plains moving forward.

“God said it’s gon be alright,” Williams said.

Williams was going to be a big loss for Auburn, losing a high-potential pass rusher after his true freshman year. He played in 10 games during the 2024 season, recording six tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.

His name never officially appeared in the transfer portal, giving Auburn time to bring him back. The move worked and head coach Hugh Freeze brings back someone who could be a key piece to the defense.

Auburn was able to get a commitment from Williams late in the cycle. Florida originally had his pledge but Freeze pulled through over Billy Napier. Not a recruitment either program took lightly as well, being a top-100 prospect nationally at a position like EDGE.

Now, for the second time in as many years, Auburn is able to win over Williams.
