3-star EDGE Ashley Williams decommits from Auburn
Zachary (La.) three-star EDGE Ashley Williams announced his decommitment from Auburn on Thursday. He was previously pledged to the Tigers since Aug. 3.
Williams is the No. 439 overall prospect and No. 43 EDGE in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 18 player in Louisiana.
“I would like to thank all the coaches and staff at Auburn that recruited me and believed in my talent,” Williams wrote in a statement published to social media. “However, after recent staff changes and conversations with my family, I have decided to decommit from Auburn and reevaluate other opportunities. Thanks again to the entire Auburn staff and community for all the love and support that they have shown throughout this process.”

The Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class now has 10 commitments. Following Williams’ decision, Auburn’s only EDGE commit is Fort Pierce (Fla.) John Carroll four-star Wilky Denaud.
Williams, who was previously committed to Nebraska from July 10 to July 31, has an On3 NIL Valuation of $14.6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Ashley Williams On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Ashley Williams:
“State champion edge rusher for Zachary (LA) as a junior who wins with burst, bend and the ability to close on ball carriers. Stands in at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds with a 6-foot-5 wingspan. Lacks ideal NFL length off the edge. Body type is narrow and will struggle to add substantial weight for the next level but not impossible. Likely to end up at stand-up backer than a true defensive end. Explosive and plays with tremendous leverage. Plays very low to the ground and gets underneath offensive linemen with ease.
“Ran an electronically-timed 4.87 40-yard dash and 7.52 3-cone drill during the spring camp circuit prior to his senior season. Jumped a 27-inch vertical and a 9-foot-6 broad jump during the same circuit. Has the athletic ability and bend to excel at the next level. His ability to maintain movement skills while attempting to add weight will determine his ceiling. Early impact player at the next level as a situational pass rusher with a chance for role expansion pending on physical growth.”
