Auburn basketball players mock Isaiah Bond's 4th-and-31 pose after beating Alabama
Auburn got redemption over Alabama following a close four-point loss to the Crimson Tide in January, defeating Alabama handily in a 99-81 win on Wednesday night in Neville Arena. But it seems like the Tigers were also looking to redeem their Iron Bown loss to the Crimson Tide from football season as well.
After the game, Auburn players Johni Broome and Tre Donaldson struck a pose mimicking their bitter rival. Stealing wide receiver Isaiah Bond‘s James Bond-inspired celebration that he famously flashed following his game-winning catch on the 4th and 31 conversation that gave Alabama’s football team the win with less than a minute to go against Auburn last November.
Broome and Donaldson clearly still remember the infamous Gravedigger play and returned the favor on Wednesday night in a memorable post-game moment that can be seen below.
Jalen Milroe‘s 31-yard touchdown pass to Bond with 32 seconds left in the 2023 Iron Bowl will forever be enshrined in the history of the Alabama-Auburn rivalry, similar to the infamous Kick Six play in the 2013 Iron Bowl when Chris Davis returned Alabama’s missed field goal for a 109-yard touchdown to take down the Crimson Tide.
But the iconic Iron Bowl rivalry runs deeper than just on the football field, as Auburn’s players kept their receipts from football season and cashed them on the hardwood. Evening up their season series with the Crimson Tide as both teams now sit atop the SEC standings each with an 8-2 record in conference play in a three-way tie with South Carolina.

Auburn’s Twitter account also posted a picture of Broome, Donaldson, and Dylan Cardwell striking the pose following a game along with several other graphics that rubbed the loss in the Crimson Tide’s face.
Isaiah ‘007’ Bond’s iconic play will forever be remembered fondly in Tuscaloosa, but after two seasons with Alabama he entered the transfer portal this offseason. Joining the Texas Longhorns ahead of the 2024 season.
The win pushes Auburn’s record to 19-4 on the season, as they remain the only team in the SEC with an undefeated record at home. Jaylin Williams scored a career-high 26 points and Broome scored 24 points to help spark the Tigers’ offense in the win. As Auburn will look to keep their momentum going against Florida on Saturday and the Crimson Tide will try to bounce back at LSU on the same day.
