Bryan Harsin impressed by OC, players following Ole Miss win
Auburn picked up a big win over No. 15 Ole Miss this week, and head coach Bryan Harsin couldn’t contain his happiness with the performance. He called it a full team effort, from the offensive coordinator down through the roster.
He specifically pointed to offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and his play-calling, which helped put the Tigers in position to pick up a top-25 victory. But he also said it’s a credit to the players, who stepped up and did what Bobo told them to do — and more.
“I think the offensive staff has done a good job, Coach Bobo’s leading that,” Harsin told reporters after beating Ole Miss. “I think those guys, working together, are doing a good job. They’re putting together game plans, but our players, too, are stepping up. You can put schemes together, but guys have to execute them. … That’s what really good coaches do, they look at the personnel, and that’s something we’ve had to do as we’ve learned this team early in the season.”
He also talked further about Bobo’s impact, especially with his play-calling last week.
“I’ve been impressed,” Harsin said. “He’s in a good groove, I thought he called a really good game tonight, kept Ole Miss off balance, made plays when we needed to and utilized his personnel. I think we had 10 different guys touch the ball. To me, that goes back to his preparation with the staff and then carrying that over onto the field in practice and executing in the game.”

“Hars has Auburn 6-2 and just knocked off a top 10 team. Incredible start to his tenure at Auburn,” tweeted Herbstreit. “Tigers becoming a dangerous team. At @AggieFootball next week for another heavyweight showdown.”
This season was supposed to be a transitional period for Auburn, but they look better under Harsin this season than they did at the end of Gus Malzahn’s tenure. Additionally, Harsin has quarterback Bo Nix playing better football than ever before.
Last night, Nix outplayed Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral in a turn of events nobody saw coming. Moreover, the Auburn defense stifled the Heisman front-runner — holding Corral to 289 yards, an interception and a rushing touchdown.
As for Nix, he proved he could get the job done with his arms and legs. Passing the football, Nix was 22 for 30 for 276 yards and a touchdown. On the other hand, he rushed the football eight times — accumulating 30 yards and two touchdowns on the night.
