Auburn DL Gage Keys plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal
Auburn defensive lineman Gage Keys plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. It will mark the third transfer of his career as he spent just one season with the Tigers after playing at Kansas in 2023.
Keys appeared in only two games this past season for Auburn and did not record any stats. He’ll now set out to find his fourth college team in as many years.
Keys played his high school football at Hilliard Davidson High School in Hilliard, Ohio, where he was a three-star prospect. He ranked as the No. 825 overall player and No. 86 defensive lineman in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The 6-foot-5 defensive lineman committed to play for Minnesota and spent his first three seasons with the Golden Gophers. He then transferred to Kansas ahead of 2023, where he had the best year of his career to finish with 21 total tackles across 12 games.
Keys is not the first Auburn player to announce his intention to enter the transfer portal. Offensive lineman EJ Harris also announced his plans to transfer on the same day as his former teammate.
