Auburn EDGE Amaris Williams plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Auburn is losing another player to the NCAA Transfer Portal as EDGE Amaris Williams is planning to enter the portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Williams was ranked as the No. 10 EDGE and No. 64 overall player in the country in the class of 2024, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was considered a four-star recruit.
Amaris Williams appeared in 10 games for Auburn as a true freshman this past season. He finished the year with 6 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. He signed with Auburn after attending Clinton High School in North Carolina.
As a senior, Williams recorded 40 tackles, including 20 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. The two-way star also rushed for 700 yards and 12 scores.
After a solid true freshman season at Auburn, Amaris Williams is now headed elsewhere. He will look to become an even bigger part of a defense in 2025.

Transfer OT Xavier Chaplin signs with Auburn
While Auburn is losing Amaris Williams to the transfer portal, the Tigers recently added an offensive lineman from the portal.
Offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin has signed with Auburn out of the portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
This news comes after Chaplin had spent the weekend visiting on The Plains. It went well enough that he’s now the fourth addition out of the transfer portal so far this offseason for the Tigers.
Chaplin had spent the past three seasons on the offensive line for Virginia Tech. In total, he appeared in 26 games in Blacksburg, including 25 during the past two seasons as the Hokies’ starter at left tackle.
With that, Chaplin was the No. 1 OT in the portal and the No. 10 transfer overall per On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players.
