When discussing rivalries, both sides usually only want to wish the other the worst. That’s why, with the Nick Saban era ending at Alabama yesterday, those down the road at Auburn couldn’t be any happier.

On Thursday, Saban announced his retirement after 28 years as a head coach, including the past 17 down in Tuscaloosa. In the hours that followed, some Tiger fans decided to dance on his grave by celebrating the best way they know how by rolling Toomer’s Corner.

Saban’s record against Auburn sits at 12-5 while the head coach of the Crimson Tide. That includes four consecutive victories since 2020 and eight wins over his final ten since The Kick-Six back in 2013. It also features a 5-4 mark inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, including his final game against Auburn where ‘Bama won on the 4th & 31 conversion known as The Gravedigger.

Saban also had a 2-3 record against the Tigers during his five-year stint with LSU in the early 2000s. That leaves his final record against Auburn at 14-8.

In a sense, some on The Plains, like many in college football, will show Saban respect as an all-time opponent and competitor. However, as a bane of their existence this century and, specifically, over nearly the past twenty years, many of them are happy to let the door hit him on the way out while they memorialize the moment accordingly.

Auburn had made Williams a top flip target since Hugh Freeze took over last year. The Tigers are set to receive Williams’ final official visit later this mont.

After he announced his decommitment, multiple Auburn signees took to Twitter to express their excitement about the news.

Among them was fellow Five-Star Plus+ signee Cam Coleman, who referenced the nickname given to Auburn’s wide receiver class in “The Freeze 5″. That includes Coleman, five-star Perry Thompson, and four-stars Bryce Cain and Malcolm Simmons.

In addition to Coleman, Auburn four-star signee Jamonta Waller also chimed in.

The 6-foot-0, 155-pound wide receiver is the No. 12 overall prospect and No. 3 WR in the 2024 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Alabama.
