Auburn kicker Evan McGuire enters NCAA transfer portal
Auburn has lost another player to the NCAA transfer portal as kicker Evan McGuire has entered the portal, On3 has learned.
The senior did not appear in a game this season as Auburn finished 6-7.
McGuire signed with Auburn in the class of 2020. He did not see game action in 2020 or 2023, but in 2021 and 2022 he contributed as a kickoff specialist.
Prior to coming to Auburn, McGuire attended Thompson High in Alabaster, Ala. While at Thompson, McGuire handled kicks, punts and kickoffs for the Warriors.
In addition to McGuire, Auburn has lost several other players from the 2023 roster to the transfer portal. That list includes safety Austin Ausberry, running back Brian Battie, cornerback Tony Hunley, receiver Malcolm Johnson, receiver Jyaire Shorter and others.
While Auburn has lost some players to the portal, head coach Hugh Freeze and the Tigers have also been active in the portal. Don’t be surprised if the Tigers continue to look to the portal as they try to build up their roster and improve it for the 2024 season.
