Auburn offensive lineman Alec Jackson announces plans for 2022 season

Veteran Auburn Tigers offensive lineman Alec Jackson just made a huge decision on whether or not to return to school for another season. On Monday afternoon, Jackson announced via his Instagram account that he was returning to Auburn next season.
“Year 6? Why Not,” Jackson captioned his Instagram post.
Jackson is a former three-star recruit according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He originally chose Auburn over other offers from Alabama, USC, LSU, Florida, and many others.
As a true freshman in 2017, Jackson took a redshirt year. He was named to the SEC first year academic honor roll that season. In 2018, he saw his first collegiate action, but it was as a defensive lineman. But in the 2019 season, Jackson transitioned to offensive tackle in played every game. He has served as Auburn’s starting left tackle.
Auburn started this season at 6-2, picking up two consecutive ranked wins against Arkansas and Ole Miss in October. Those two wins, though, would be Auburn’s final two of the season. Over the final four weeks of the regular season, Auburn lost to Texas A&M, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Alabama. The Tigers also lost to Houston in the Birmingham Bowl, finishing the season 6-7 and on a five game losing streak.

Jackson isn’t the only offensive lineman returning to Auburn
Last week, Auburn got more good news on the offensive line. Nick Brahms will be returning next season, meaning that Auburn will have two sixth-year seniors anchoring the offensive front in Brahms and Jackson.
“I truly believe that Auburn’s best days are ahead and to be a part of that success, you have to be a special person,” Brahms said. “It’s a privilege to play here and I’m proud to wear these colors — I love Auburn with everything in me. I look forward to continuing my education in my master’s program and becoming a flight instructor this year while also coming back for my last year of eligibility!!! Let’s do it!!!”
