Auburn offers 4-star WR Malik Elzy

Chicago (Ill.) Simeon four-star wide receiver Malik Elzy received an offer from Auburn on Friday. He announced the news over social media.

Elzy is the No. 307 overall prospect and No. 42 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Illinois.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound wideout has received 27 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Illinois is leading for his commitment at 60.7%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Elzy attended the Overtime’s OT7 seven-on-seven league this summer. His performance garnered high praise for On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.

“Malik Elzy turned in as many highlight reel catches as any receiver over the course of the weekend. We saw the Chicago Simeon product flash high-point ability on several occasions,” Power wrote. “He was particularly dangerous on the goal line. Elzy is listed at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, but looks to be heavier. He’s a physical, coordinated receiver who can body defensive backs in contested situations.”

Regarding Auburn, the Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class is No. 33 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 11 in the SEC. It contains two wide receivers in Thomasville (Ga.) Thomas County Central four-star Adam Hopkins and Chipley (Fla.) three-star Daquayvious Sorey.

Elzy has an On3 NIL Valuation of $26K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
