No. 9 Ole Miss scored a 41-yard touchdown to take a two-score lead on Auburn just past midway through the fourth quarter, but the Rebels will have to wait to try to close out the win over the Tigers with a weather delay halting play with 6:26 left in the game.

The Rebels will be kicking off to the Tigers up 48-34 when play resumes following the delay.

ESPN had to pull its camera crews from lofted perches in the game just prior to the weather delay, which caused some weird camera angles for viewers. Fans present in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium were also treated to a field runner being tackled by stadium security just after the camera perches were abandoned.

Play will resume about 30 minutes after the inclement weather clears the area.

UPDATE: Auburn officials have indicated the estimated restart time will be at 3:10 p.m. CT.

Auburn-Ole Miss delay pauses a competitive contest

Though Ole Miss currently leads 48-34, Auburn has managed to make it a competitive game despite trailing throughout.

The Rebels took the lead midway through the first quarter and have led ever since. But Ole Miss hasn’t been able to run away with it, despite taking a 21-0 lead just 24 seconds into the second quarter.

Even a brief Auburn quarterback change — which resulted in a sack fumble for TJ Finley just three plays in — didn’t fully derail the Tigers.

Auburn cut Ole Miss’ lead all the way to 28-24 at one point with a 50-yard Bigsby touchdown run just after halftime.

Still, the Rebels have been able to respond every time the Tigers have struck. Ole Miss has run for 442 yards in the contest, with three different players topping the 100-yard mark already.
