Auburn OT Percy Lewis enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Auburn offensive tackle Percy Lewis has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Lewis spent one season at Auburn after transferring in from Mississippi State ahead of the 2024 campaign.
Lewis started in five games for the Tigers this season. At 6-foot-7, 355 pounds, Lewis boasts professional size and could be a significant addition for a team in need of a big body. Ahead of the 2024 season, Auburn offensive line coach Jake Thornton discussed how Lewis’ size is both a blessing and a curse.
“He’s a big body, big athlete. He’s got to be more consistent with his technique and stop relying on, I’m 6-foot-8, 350 pounds, I can just be bigger than everybody,” Thornton said. “He’s got to rely more on his technique, but it’s pushing him to be able to do that. So it’s brought a lot of value to the room, excited about that progression there.”
Prior to Auburn, Lewis spent two seasons at Mississippi State, where he played in 25 games and made eight starts. Lewis spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, playing in 12 games.
After transferring to Auburn, Lewis discussed his goals for his football career.
“At first, I had my mind set that I wanted to do 10 years in the NFL, but truly, I want to do as many years as the Good Lord lets me play,” Lewis said. “So, if he blesses me with five, if he blesses me with 10 or he blesses me with more, I’m going to do it. I love football.”
