Ahead of Game 1 in Omaha at the College World Series, Auburn infielder Brody Moore laid out the keys to success this weekend and beyond.

“Getting on base is going to be big for us, just staying short and letting the big things happen,” Moore said. “It’s a bigger ballpark, a lot of ground to cover. I think if we hit some hard ground balls and low line drives, we’ll be pretty good.”

Auburn takes on SEC foe Ole Miss to open up College World Series. First pitch is at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday in Omaha. The last time the Tigers faced the Rebels, they dropped the three-game series 2-1. The two teams combined for 60 runs in three days.

The Tigers went undefeated in Regional play, scoring 51 runs across three games to set up a Super Regional against Oregon State. Playing on the road in Corvallis, they managed to squeak out a 4-3 victory in Game 3 to advance to Omaha.

Moore has greatly impacted Auburn’s tournament run, going 12-for-26 at the plate with one home run across six games. He was a freshman on the 2019 squad which also made the College World Series but eventually lost. Now as a senior, he will do everything he can to deliver a different outcome.

Moore: ‘We’re prepared for this moment’

Four teams are repping for the SEC at the 2022 College World Series in Omaha. Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Texas A&M won their Super Regionals to advance to the biggest stage in college baseball.

Nine of the SEC’s 14 teams made an appearance in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, with Tennessee even earning the No. 1 overall seed. Despite this, the Volunteers are not among the eight College World Series teams after losing to Notre Dame in the Super Regional. The fact that the SEC still makes up half the field without arguably its best team is a testament to the strength of the conference.

Having gone up against that level of competition all season, Brody Moore believes that the Tigers and the other three SEC teams will be less phased by the moment in Omaha.

“The SEC, in general, is the best amateur baseball in the world,” Moore said. “Those four teams in the SEC West and the league we play in have prepared us for this stage. I don’t think the competition gets more, I think it’s about even. I think we’re prepared for this moment.”
