WATCH: Auburn spring game ends in dramatic fashion with spectacular catch
Auburn ended its spring game in style on Saturday.
The Tigers had their annual A-Day game, and Landen King made a spectacular catch on a pass from incoming freshman Holden Geriner for Team Auburn to cut the Team Tigers lead to 10-9. However, Team Auburn’s two-point conversion attempt failed, and Team Tigers came away with the victory.
Still, what better way to end A-Day than with an A-Plus touchdown catch?
TJ Finley led the way at quarterback for Team Auburn while Oregon transfer Robby Ashford took a majority of the snaps for Team Tigers. Finley completed 11 of 19 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown and Ashford totaled 127 yards on 11-of-13 passing. Geriner came in after Ashford and went 9-for-11 passing for 71 yards and that touchdown pass to King.
A-Day marked the last spring practice for Auburn, which means all eyes are on fall camp and, of course, the regular season. The Tigers went 6-7 in Bryan Harsin’s first season on The Plains last year, including a Birmingham Bowl loss to Houston.

Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin gave the Tiger fan base a glimpse into the future in a press conference early during spring ball. He spoke glowingly about a number of freshman and newcomers that already impressed this spring.
“I think Jay Fair,” Harsin said. “He’s getting more reps, nd Jay’s just learning. And you can see a little bit, too. Like right now, you start getting into that fourth and fifth install so the young guys, it starts to become a lot. I think Holden [Geriner’s] done some good things. And now you get a chance to go back and review a lot of this stuff.
“So Holden, Jay, J.D. Rhym. He’s a guy that the other day, we had a little bit of a live period. It was goal line period. He came up and he was really physical. And you don’t know that. You don’t know what that’s going to look like for some of these young players. He went in there and stuck his shoulder on the ball. Caused a fumble. Made a big play. And some of the new guys as well, Jason Jones. Good to see him. He’s played.”
