Auburn announces details, date for annual spring game
After a ton of scrutiny and uncertainty surrounding Auburn Tigers head coach Bryan Harsin, he will be returning for another season on the Plains. Harsin will be facing a lot of pressure, looking to improve upon his 6-7 record from last year, the program’s first losing season since 2012.
Spring practice will be getting underway soon, with a lot of interesting position battles taking place for Auburn. Usually, the spring game is a good place for players to show coaches they are reading to take a starting spot in the fall. On Wednesday, information regarding the Tigers’ scrimmage was released.
According to Tom Green of AL.com, Auburn will host their annual A-Day spring game on April 9. It will take place at Jordan-Hare Stadium and will kick off at 1 p.m. CT.
Quarterback is going to be a position up for grabs. After three-year starter Bo Nix decided to pack his bags and head out west to Oregon, there will be a few names competing for the spot. First is TJ Finley, who finished out the season as the starter for Auburn against Alabama and Houston. Two transfers are entering the program as well, in Zach Calzada from Texas A&M and Robby Ashford from Oregon.
Finally, fan-favorite Demetrius Davis will be in the mix as well. Coming out of Duncanville High School in Texas and being a four-star prospect according to On3, Davis should be part of the open competition Harsin is expected to hold throughout the spring.

Former Auburn Tigers assistant joining Nick Saban’s staff
Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are reloading the staff following their runner-up finish for the national title this season. The latest to join the army of analysts in Tuscaloosa is former Auburn wide receivers coach Cornelius Williams, according to a report from FootballScoop.
Williams found himself out of a job in the middle of his first season under Bryan Harsin at Auburn. Harsin fired Williams after the team eked out a 34-24 win over Georgia State ahead of the SEC slate. It was a shocking move by the first-year head coach who’s faced an uphill battle ever since.
After Williams’ departure, Eric Kiesau took over as Auburn’s wide receivers coach. Kiesau was an analyst on the Tigers staff after four seasons working under Harsin at Boise State, including as the OC in 2020.
Auburn will save some money on the former wideout coach’s buyout now that he reportedly found an analyst position with Alabama. He originally signed a two-year, $600,000 deal with the Tigers.
