Auburn defender asks for help through family tragedy
Auburn linebacker Wesley Steiner is asking for help after the death of his mother Elisabeth Steiner, posting a Go Fund Me link on his social media page. The sophomore’s mother dealt with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Lupus and Sepsis while living with Steiner’s grandmother Diann. In addition to Wesley, she leaves behind three additional children, Jenae, Elias and Lydia.
The call for help comes as the family looks to pay off a number of medical bills, with a $150,000 goal set.
“God has called my mom home – and now my grandmother is living on her own – and we need help paying for the medical bills we have,” Steiner posted. “Anything you give is a tremendous help for me and my grandmother.”
Wesley Steiner also posted a message on Go Fund Me’s website with more details on the death of his mother and his family’s current situation.
“I know when times are hard, we need to reach out and surround ourselves with people who care and support you,” wrote Steiner. “(My mom) fought ‘til the very end, but it was her time. We weren’t able to get my mother insurance. Medicaid turned her down because my grandmother had to take care of her, and any other attempt was met with, “We will get back to you,” but they never did. Now, with nothing but the absence of a daughter and a mom, I’m reaching out to anyone willing to help my family. Anything you give is a tremendous help to me and my grandmother. I am thankful that y’all have taken the time to even read this.”
