Auburn kicker Anders Carlson will return for his fifth season, according to a post on his Instagram page. He is choosing to use the additional year of eligibility granted by the NCAA during the COVID-19 pandemic rather than enter the 2022 NFL Draft.

Anders is the younger brother of Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson, who kicked at Auburn from 2014-17 before going in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Without missing a beat, Auburn continued to use a Carlson at kicker in 2018 and beyond with the arrival of Anders.

In four seasons, the younger Carlson is 67-for-93 in 47 games with 151-of-154 extra point attempts. He also serves as Auburn’s kickoff specialist with 270 attempts and 170 touchdowns over his career.

Unfortunately, Carlson suffered a season-ending ACL injury in Auburn’s loss against Mississippi State. The injury occurred during an onside kick attempt in the second half and required surgery.

“Auburn family, playing for Auburn the past five years has been the biggest blessing and honor a kid could ever dream up. My greatest friendships and moments in life can all be attributed to this University. The people and opportunities here have made me a better man and I’m forever grateful for that.

“The lord has blessed me more than I could ever express. Through many prayers and opened doors, I am excited to continue my journey with Auburn football for my final year! I am continuing to heal through this ACL journey and I am ready to get back to work. War Eagle and let’s finish some business.”

In addition to the message posted within his return graphic, Carlson also included a caption on his post.

“Can’t get enough!” the post read. “Let’s rock Auburn football.”
