Auburn tackle Austin Troxell makes critical 2022 decision
Auburn offensive lineman Austin Troxell plans to return for a sixth season, according to a Tuesday post on his social media page. The veteran starter plans to use the free year of eligibility given by the NCAA during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his five years at Auburn, Austin Troxell has shown bursts of talent but missed much of his potential time with injuries. With multiple knee surgeries over his collegiate career, the tackle has appeared in 26 game total but hopes to end on a positive note in 2022.
The 6-foot-7, 305-pound Huntsville, Alabama native made five appearances in 2021 and provides needed experience on the 2022 unit.
“You know, I’ve been working for this for a long time,” Troxell told AL.com during the 2021 season. “It’s finally my time has arrived. You know, it’s just a blessing to be out there with my teammates and my brothers. You can’t beat that feeling.”
He will get one more chance at finishing his feel-good story with a new quarterback behind him and several new teammates beside him. However, one teammate he can still rely on is Nick Brahms, who also announced his return on Tuesday.
