Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star offensive tackle Tavaris Dice is one of the top targets on Auburn’s offensive line board.

The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder has been on campus on The Plains nearly half a dozen times as a recruit, including his latest visit earlier this month. At one time planning to commit next fall, he moved his commitment timeline up to this summer. Now, he’s moved it up again and plans to commit in late March.

Ahead of that decision, AuburnLive.com recruiting insider Cole Pinkston feels strongly that the Tigers are in the driver’s seat.

“I like a lot where Auburn stands with him,” Pinkston said on Wednesday during On3’s Inside Scoop recruiting show. “He moved his commitment timeline up to March, which he told when he was at Auburn on Feb. 3 that it was going to be the summer. And before that, he told me it was going to be next fall. So he keeps moving it up, and it’s Auburn he keeps visiting. Five or six visits now, finally brought the family on the last visit and they seemed to love it. I think Auburn is trending big here.”

Tigers have been the favorite for Dice

In between now and then, he expects to visit Missouri, Arkansas, Auburn again and potentially one or two more schools.

When those visits are over, a decision is likely to come soon after. And Dice hasn’t been shy in talking about how he feels about Hugh Freeze’s program.

“Yeah, they’re my favorite, I mean, considering it’s really where all I have been going,” he told Pinkston after his most recent visit. “I still have to get out there some more, but Coach Thornton, Coach Freeze, Coach Cox, they have always been treating me good ever since I came down here. I appreciate that.”

The opportunity for earning playing time early on is a major factor as well.

“Come up there, do what I have to do,” he said of what Auburn’s message to him has been. “No coach is ever going to tell you that you’ll start, because he would be lying to you. If I go up there, keep doing what I have been doing, just keep grinding and getting big, ball out in practice, I’ve got a really good chance to start as a freshman.”

The Tigers already have eight commitments in the 2025 cycle with a top-10 class in the On3 Industry Recruiting Rankings, and Dice would only strengthen that. Should he commit to AU, Dice would be the second offensive tackle commit in the class, three-star Spencer Dowland of Athen (Ala.).
