There is a favorite emerging for Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star interior offensive lineman DeAndre Carter, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

The Auburn Tigers are trending heavily for Carter, thanks to a new expert prediction. Following an earlier pick from Auburn Live recruiting insider Jeffrey Lee, InsideTexas.com’s Gerry Hamilton has logged a pick for the Tigers as well, pushing Auburn up to a 93.7 percent chance of landing Carter.

He is set to announce his commitment on Sept. 3 between Auburn, Texas and Michigan State.

The 6-foot-3.5, 340-pounder attended Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend on July 28, his first visit to the Plains since taking an official back on June 16.

Carter’s second visit to Auburn came with a more relaxed setting, which was different than his OV and provided a side that “he thoroughly enjoyed,” according to Lee.

“It was great, I loved today, yes sir,” Carter said after Big Cat. “I loved it a lot (the first time), so I just came back one more time. Hopefully I would have the same liking as I did the first time.”

Carter also said he was thinking about his decision, and though a commitment date is yet to be set, Lee sees orange and blue in the big man’s future.

Auburn originally offered Carter on Jan. 5 and is one of more than two dozen Power 5 schools that have done so, including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Texas and more. Carter also took an official visit to Michigan State in June and has an OV scheduled with the Longhorns for September.

Carter is the No. 146 overall player in the 2024 cycle, per the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 IOL and No. 16 player out of California.

Auburn’s recruiting class currently sits at No. 14 nationally and No. 7 in the SEC in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Coach Hugh Freeze and the Tigers are after a big July, having added their two highest-ranked recruits in the span of three days, both of whom flipped from AU’s biggest rivals.

On July 26, Clanton (Ala.) Chilton County five-star linebacker Demarcus Riddick, the No. 31 overall player and No. 3 LB in the cycle, flipped from Georgia to Auburn. On July 29, Foley (Ala.) five-star wide receiver Perry Thompson followed suit, flipping from Alabama to the Tigers. Thompson, the No. 29 overall player and No. 8 WR in the cycle, is now Auburn’s highest-ranked commit.

Auburn’s class is currently without an offensive line commit, though its offensive commits include Thompson, Little Rock (Ark.) four-star quarterback Walker White, Andalusia (Ala.) four-star running back J’Marion Burnette and Alexander City (Ala.) Benjamin Russell four-star athlete Malcom Simmons, who joined Thompson in pledging to the Tigers on July 29.
