Auburn WR Sam Jackson enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Auburn wide receiver Sam Jackson officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
The former TCU and Cal transfer has nine total touchdowns in his career. Brown hauled in a 37-yard touchdown pass against Alabama A&M. He also reeled in a 26-yard touchdown catch against New Mexico.
A former three-star prospect in the 2021 cycle, Jackson originally committed to TCU as a quarterback. In January of 2023, he transferred to California, before eventually landing with Auburn in December 2023. Jackson hauled in two catches for 63 yards in 2024.
In high school, Jackson played for Naperville Central High School, hauling in 50 catches for 847 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. He also passed for 1,727 passing yards and 16 touchdowns in 2019 as a quarterback his junior year. Jackson did not play in 2020 due to Covid-19.
In 2023, he played in five games for the Golden Bears as a quarterback, throwing for 556 passing yards and five touchdowns, to go along with two interceptions. He also added 59 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Part of the reason that Jackson decided to transfer to Auburn was that his former high school teammate, Payton Thorne, was the starting quarterback for the Tigers for the last two years.
