The nation’s longest home winning streak no longer belongs to Auburn following an upset orchestrated by Texas A&M.

Auburn had held the longest active home winning streak at 28 games prior to Wednesday night’s contest against Texas A&M. Despite a hot start for the Tigers, the Aggies pretty quickly took over midway through the first half and controlled the game from there.

The Aggies led 45-30 at the halftime break and the Tigers failed to really put much pressure on in the second half, falling 79-63.

The game was also home to a tremendous highlight-reel dunk from Andersson Garcia late in the first half that helped put a stamp on the performance.

Just outside the 3-point lane on his side of the floor, Garcia saw a lazy pass attempt coming out of a double-team. He jumped the pass and took it downcourt for a thundering two-hand dunk, drawing a foul in the process.

UCLA now owns longest active home winning streak

With Texas A&M snapping Auburn’s home winning streak, UCLA now owns the longest active streak at 19 consecutive wins.

Even before Wednesday night’s game against Texas A&M coach Bruce Pearl knew the streak was tenuous. It isn’t something that just happens by accident, as the Tigers found out against the Aggies.

“Obviously, it speaks to The Jungle and the incredible support,” Pearl said. “It speaks to the sellouts and the Auburn Family’s commitment and the great environment. But that environment is not going to rebound for us, and it’s not going to make shots. We’re going to have to continue to play better and better.”

Auburn will be back in action at West Virginia on Saturday in a game that tips off at noon ET on ESPN. The chance to begin a new home winning streak will have to wait until Feb. 1, when Auburn hosts Georgia.
