Auburn quarterback Bo Nix‘s time with the Tigers came to an end after he entered the transfer portal earlier this week. With speculation and rumors surrounding Nix and his relationship with Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin, Nix responded to any critics of his move Friday.

As a guest on The Next Round on Friday, Nix addressed the rumors and explained exactly why his time at Auburn is over.

“No, I think if I would’ve had something that needed to be addressed, I think Coach (Harsin) would have been able to help me and get those accomplished,” Nix said. “All that happened was we just had a conversation and I told him what I was thinking and then coach told me what he was thinking.

“I’m not going to get into the specifics, that’s personal between him and I, but I do think that it was a great conversation to have,” Nix added. “The open line of communication was there for both Coach and I, and it was an important decision. There’s a lot that goes into it and it was honestly it was more than just that conversation. That the decision was made kind of before that and it was just talked about during that session.”

Nix on relationship with Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin

Nix elaborated on his relationship with Harsin, dispelling rumors of a falling out between the two. From the sounds of it, it was nothing but love from the now-former Tigers quarterback.

In fact, he was close with both Harsin and now-former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

“I think Coach Harsin was one of the main reasons that I developed this year,” Nix said. “Like I mentioned to him a lot, I appreciate him for what he did when he came in and allowed me to kind of transform my game. … He taught me a new system and he was very good at teaching that system.

“So I can attribute most of my growth to he and Coach Bobo. They both had a great hand in my transformation this year and I think that without either one of those guys, I wouldn’t be in the same position that I’m in right now and obviously it starts with Coach Harsin coming in. It was his system and Coach Bobo was calling the plays, so they both put me in a great situation.”

Bobo was let go last month after one year with Auburn.
