Brody Moore discusses leadership role at Auburn
The Auburn Tigers are headed to the College World Series with hopes of lifting the program’s first national title after making an appearance most recently in 2019. Led by a long list of veterans, including Brody Moore, with four or more years of experience in college baseball, they have excelled late this season and into the postseason so far.
During his latest press conference, Brody Moore discussed how he and other veterans on the team have stepped into a leadership role for the inexperience players, giving head coach Butch Thompson credit for their development.
“We take pride in it,” said Moore. “But I think also he’s prepared us to take pride in it, if that makes sense. He’s prepared us through me and Carson Skipper and all the other guys that have been here four-plus years. He’s prepared us to know what to say to this team. And we really do take pride in that.”
Moore has hit .294 so far with five home runs so far this season, adding 37 RBIs on 72 hits. So far in the NCAA Tournament, he has been a big part of the Tigers’ offense, going 12-for-26 at the plate with one home run across six games in the Regional and Super Regional.
Auburn earned its 2022 College World Series appearance after defeating Oregon State in Game 3 of the Super Regional. They will now open up College World Series play against SEC West foe Ole Miss at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Brody Moore on development
Brody Moore also discussed his areas of growth from a backup on Auburn’s last College World Series team to a key player in this year’s run.
“The guys that were in front of me, they taught me so much,” said Moore. “Playing behind them every day, playing with Ryan Bliss every day. Just people like that who have helped me become the ballplayer I am today. And becoming more of an Auburn man from learning a lot from the coaches. Especially Butch Thompson just coming up here. And just being able to be an everyday player.”
Moore is also an Auburn legacy, pushing his familiarity with the program all the way back to his birth. His father, Brandon Moore, played a key role in the Tigers 1994 trip to the College World Series. The family tradition in Omaha will now continue this weekend with hopes of a better result this time around.
