Brody Moore reveals how SEC competition prepared Auburn for College World Series
The SEC is well-represented at the 2022 College World Series in Omaha. Half of the field is made up of teams from the conference, with Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas A&M all winning their Super Regional to advance to the biggest stage in college baseball.
Nine of the SEC’s 14 teams made an appearance in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, with Tennessee even earning the No. 1 overall seed. Despite this, the Volunteers are not among the eight College World Series teams after losing to Notre Dame in the Super Regional. The fact that the SEC still makes up half the field without arguably its best team is a testament to the strength of the conference.
Having gone up against that level of competition all season, Auburn infielder Brody Moore believes that the Tigers and the other three SEC teams will be less phased by the moment in Omaha.
“The SEC in general in the best amateur baseball in the world,” Moore said. “Those four teams in the SEC West and the league we play in has prepared us for this stage. I don’t think the competition gets more, I think it’s about even. I think we’re prepared for this moment.”

Although Auburn was bounced in its first game of the SEC Tournament last month, the Tigers have been on a roll in the NCAA Tournament. They went undefeated in Regional play, scoring 51 runs across just three games to set up a Super Regional series against Oregon State. Playing on the road in Corvallis, the Tigers managed to squeak out a 4-3 victory in Game 3 to advance to Omaha after splitting the first two contests of the series.
Moore has been a big part of the Tigers’ tournament run, going 12-for-26 at the plate with one home run across six games. He was a freshman on the 2019 squad which also made the College World Series but lost. Now back as a senior, he will do everything he can to ensure this time is different.
Auburn is schedule to take on Ole Miss to open up College World Series in what is the first of many potential all-SEC matchups. That game is set to start at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday in Omaha.
