Bruce Pearl and Auburn took care of business against Alabama on Tuesday. In a 100-81 drubbing over their rivals, the Tigers secured a sweep of the Crimson Tide, adding to an already glorious season.

As Auburn celebrated, Pearl broke out one of Alabama’s favorite celebrations — the Crane Kick. On Thursday, Pearl explained why he brought the celebration out after the victory.

“It is the Iron Bowl, it is a rivalry, and the game does matter…. (The crane pose and broom swinging) adds to the rivalry, but I want it to add to the rivalry and the passion and the joy with our fans,” Pearl stated, via Tom Green of AL.com.

While the Crane Kick was adopted by Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams, as well as the rest of the Crimson Tide, as a signature celebration this past season, Pearl is having some fun. The Auburn coach was enjoying their victory over Alabama — and trolling the Crimson Tide at the same time.

Palpable energy is surrounding Auburn basketball. As long as the Tigers keep winning, Bruce Pearl can continue to do whatever celebrations he wants. Auburn takes the court next on Saturday, facing Georgia on the road at 1:00 PM EST.

To illustrate, guard Wendell Green Jr. led the way for Auburn throughout the game. Coming off the bench, Green Jr. scored 23 points, secured eight rebounds and dished out six assists. Additionally, star forward Jabari Smith got his — scoring 17 points and bringing down five rebounds.

On the other side of the court, Alabama guard Jaden Shackelford did everything he could to pull the upset. He led the Crimson Tide with 26 points in the contest, but it wasn’t enough to close the near twenty-point gap.

Now 21-1, the Tigers have a lighter schedule over the rest on February. Auburn doesn’t face a ranked squad until Feb. 26, when they travel to face the No. 22 Tennessee Volunteers. Next up for Auburn is Georgia, who they face off against on Saturday.

Bruce Pearl is leading Auburn to a magical season. Crane kicks, victories and a No. 1 ranking — the Tigers are doing it all in 2021-22.
