Late in the second half during a loss to Memphis, Auburn coach Bruce Pearl was driven to a technical foul while going off on officials. With the Tigers trailing by eight with 1:30 remaining in the game, Auburn attacked the rim in transition and ended up missing the layup due to what Pearl saw as a clear foul.
Pearl immediately went off on the officials, drawing the attention of fans and rivals of Auburn as his face grew bright red during the tirade.

Bruce Pearl earns a technical against Memphis
The outburst drew a technical quickly, while the commentators broke down how angry Pearl was by drawing attention to his face becoming “red as a tomato.” While Pearl certainly felt the no-call by officials on a shove was a glaring mistake, replay showed that Pearl might not have had the best angle on the call — with the broadcast replay showing no upper-body contact.
Ultimately, the game ended with Auburn basketball suffering their first loss of the season and dropping to 8-1 on the season. The Tigers entered the contest with Memphis as the No. 11 team in the nation — a number that will likely take a hit after Saturday’s game.
