Bruce Pearl on Auburn's struggles from 3-point range in loss to A&M: 'It's an issue'
After Auburn’s loss to Texas A&M, Tigers head coach Bruce Pearl was frustrated with his team’s offensive performance, especially from beyond the three-point line. He even described the team’s struggles there as an issue.
“Man, it was tough,” Bruce Pearl said in his postgame press conference.
“They doubled it out of Wendell’s [Green Jr.] hands and they didn’t leave Wendell on the perimeter very much. Wendell is our best three-point shooter, so, therefore, it was really kind of reliant on some of the other guys. Zep [Jasper] made a couple.
Auburn was just 3/16 shooting from three-point range in the 79-63 loss to Texas A&M. Had the Tigers made a couple more shots and the game may have been entirely different at the end.
“But, it’s an issue, finding some other guys that want to shoot it, can shoot it. It’ll make our offense better for sure.”
Auburn only has a couple of days to figure out its shooting before traveling to Morgantown on Saturday to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Bruce Pearl doubled down on comments about home-court advantage
The loss to Texas A&M snapped Auburn’s home winning streak, which was the longest in the nation prior to the game with 28 straight home wins. However, as Pearl explained, “But that environment isn’t going to rebound for us, make shots. We’re going to have to continue to play better.” After the game, Bruce Pearl doubled down on the idea that fans are great, but they don’t win games.
“We did a decent job of keeping them off the boards, but they made so many shots that there weren’t that many misses. We did not turn them over enough, and we definitely didn’t make enough shots,” Pearl said.
“We really hadn’t thought about that. We have not lost at home in a couple years. Obviously, not used to it. Lost to a good team that played really well. They were better tonight — it was pretty clear.”
