Bruce Pearl reveals postgame message to Auburn after rare home loss to Texas A&M
Auburn picked up their first loss since the start of January with the 79-63 defeat to Texas A&M. Wednesday’s loss was also the Tiger’s first home loss in 702 days and ended a 28-game home winning streak. After the game, though, Pearl gave nothing but credit to Buzz Williams and the Aggies.
When Pearl was asked about what he told his team after the game, he just kept it honest about the way A&M played. He said they outplayed Auburn through their talent, experience, and physicality and that he’s hoping this performance won’t have any effect on their next game.
“We’ve gotta get to the next play. Texas A&M is a really, really good team. I think they’re one of the Top-4 teams in our league. They outplayed us tonight, they played really well,” said Pearl. “I’m not upset about the loss because we just got beat tonight. They played great and they’re capable of that. They’re a really good team, a veteran team. It’s a talented team, a physical team. They’re gonna have a good year because they’re good.”
Auburn and A&M were going back and forth with just under 10 minutes to go in the first half. From there, though, the Aggies pushed it to a double-digit lead that they would essentially hold for the remainder of the game.

Overall, they outshot the Tigers at all three levels as Tyrece Radford led the way with 30 points, outrebounded them by five, and forced them into 13 turnovers with eight of them coming through steals.
Still, Auburn can’t let this loss to hang over them. While the nation’s longest home winning streak is now over, the Tigers must now prepare for a trip to Morgantown. All Pearl can hope for now is that his team’s next performance won’t turn one loss into two when they play at West Virginia on Saturday.
