Thursday, news broke Auburn quarterback TJ Finley was arrested for eluding police. After the Tigers’ practice, Bryan Harsin addressed the situation.
Finley turned himself into police on Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to WRBL-TV. He faced accusations of eluding police after riding his moped without a helmet, but was back in the Auburn football facility on Thursday.
Harsin confirmed Finley was back with the team Thursday and he’ll participate on Friday.
“He was here,” Harsin said, via AL.com’s Tom Green. “He’ll be here tonight, he’ll practice tomorrow. We’re aware of what’s going on.”
After the report came out, Finley’s attorney issued a statement clarifying what happened. His attorney called the situation a “misunderstanding.”
“The charges pending against my client, T.J. Finley, are the result of traffic violations and a misunderstanding,” Finley’s attorney’s statement reads, via Green. “The charges are in the process of being handled in Municipal Court within the City of Auburn as all traffic citations are. As soon as T.J. learned of the charges, he turned himself in and has been released on a bond he signed for himself. His first day of football camp with Auburn University has been a success.”

More on the TJ Finley situation
The news came out two days after Finley signed a historic NIL deal with Amazon, which he announced on Tuesday. He signed on with Amazon Fashion, which is where his custom clothing line is sold with up to 26 pieces so far.
Finley announced the news in a paid partnership on Instagram. In his Instagram post, the Auburn quarterback shared he helped sign the deal through Dreamfield. Dreamfield is the NIL deal-making platform founded by former Florida State quarterback McKenzie Milton and former Miami quarterback D’Eriq King.
Finley is currently in the middle of a quarterback battle at Auburn with Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada. He finished last season as the starting quarterback, coming in for former Tigers quarterback Bo Nix. The Ponchatoula, Louisiana native posted 827 yards, six touchdowns and one interception in nine games played.
