Bryan Harsin gives detailed evaluation of Auburn tight ends
Auburn just recently wrapped up their spring game on Saturday and one area of depth for the Tigers heading into the 2022-2023 campaign is expected to be the tight end position. The Tigers’ talented trio of tight ends: John Samuel Shenker, Tyler Fromm, and Brandon Frazier all made plays in their spring game. The entire position group really shined on Saturday, combining for 12 catches for 138 receiving yards and one touchdown. Brandon Frazier led the group with five catches for 42 receiving yards.
Following the spring game, Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin gave a detailed evaluation of his tight ends in his press conference.
Bryan Harsin discusses his tight ends in-depth
“You’ve got Shenker who played for us and did some really good things last year. He chose to come back. He’s not playing baseball. You can tell that in his entire focus being on one thing, because it’s hard to do that. He’s an elite athlete to be able to do both and now he hones in on just the football piece. His body is stronger, he’s bigger. He’s extremely intelligent when it comes to understanding what we’re doing on offense but how he can go out there and manipulate the defense. And he did a good job there today. There was one that was over his head but he got himself open,” Harsin said.
“But then you see Luke Deal making plays. We talked about Landen [King] kind of moving out to receiver and doing some more of that. Brandon Frazier was making plays today out there. [Tyler] Fromm. Micah [Riley-Ducker]. So I just like that group a ton just as far as their mentality. And I think coach [Brad] Bedell has done a great job. When you have a guy like coach Bedell–he played like seven years in the NFL,” Harsin said.

“And so he understands what it takes to be successful as a player. And how he coaches those guys in his mentality–I see that in that group. Those guys know–from the run game to the movement to the pass game–those guys need to play well in order for us to be successful. So they’ve taken that on themselves to be like, we’re gonna be the group every day that shows up, is consistent, and we’re making plays and doing our job. And they’ve done that,” Harsin said.
