Bryan Harsin is in his first season as the head coach of the Auburn Tigers. Still, many are wondering if he should have a chance at a second — or if he’ll jump ship to a different job opening.

Amid the rumors, Harsin almost defeated Nick Saban in his first Iron Bowl. Following the devastating overtime loss to Alabama, Harsin spoke about the rumors of his possible departure.

“I’m always committed to what I’m doing,” stated Harsin. We’re just coming off a tough game. I came to Auburn for a reason. Look at the history of my coaching career — this isn’t about me, it’s about our team tonight. We played a good football team. We didn’t win. I’m disappointed. Our players are disappointed. I care more about what the hell they think. We got to take care of those guys.”

Moreover, Harsin exemplified his love for everything Auburn. While he’s disappointed in letting victory slip-away, the Auburn coach is excited about his team’s future.

“There’s a reason why we came here to Auburn,” stated Harsin. “Just do a little research and see the history of the things that I’ve been able to do and I’ve been a part of. There’s a reason why we’re here.

“Auburn’s a great place. Love it. Love the community here .. where we’re going with the program. Disappointed as hell, but at the same time excited about the future. .. Whatever you want to say with that right there — those guys in that locker room know where I stand. Everyone in this program, on that coaching staff knows where I stand.”

Evidently, Harsin is taking the rumors of leaving before the job is finished personal.

Harsin: ‘We have a lot more work to do.’

Continuing, Harsin believes there’s plenty of work to be done before he could ever think about leaving Auburn.

“I love it here .. the orange and blue. And we have a lot more work to do,” stated Harsin. “So we’re going to continue that.

“We’re not going to let anybody distract us from doing the work necessary to go out there and being the type of team that we know we can be. As long as our guys stay focused, I will. .. We’ll be able to achieve those things at some point. That’s the single-minded focus that we have in this program.”

Bryan Harsin may not have shocked the world against Alabama, but he’s reassuring fans that he’s not going anywhere. The Auburn Tigers are his squad for years to come.
