Chad Baker-Mazara stared down the LSU bench after he was fouled on a made 3-point basket during the first half of Auburn‘s matchup on the road Wednesday.

The foul on the 3-pointer occurred right in front of LSU’s bench, which occurred amid a 10-0 run sparked a few possessions earlier after a flagrant foul on Baker-Mazara from LSU’s Cam Carter. Carter was originally called for a common offensive foul after colliding with the Auburn guard, but after review the call was upgraded to a Flagrant 1 after Baker-Mazara fell to the floor after the play.

Baker-Mazara appeared to be fine after the Flagrant and popped back up two possessions later for the foul called on his 3-point attempt. He scored six of the 10 points during and despite being a 93.1% free throw shooter coming into Wednesday’s matchup, made 1 of 3 of his attempts during the stretch.

The run was the catalyst that helped lead Auburn to take a 41-29 lead into halftime. Baker-Mazara scored nine points in the first half to go with one assist and a rebound. Johni Broome logged 11 rebounds in the first 20 minutes and is two baskets away from another double-double this season. Auburn was led in scoring by Miles Kelly‘s 10 points thanks to a pair of 3-point makes in the first half.

Baker-Mazara is averaging 12.8 points per game this season and is well on his way to surpassing his mark based on his performance in the first half.

If Auburn can hold on and earn the road victory against LSU, Auburn will continue its undefeated (7-0) start to the SEC campaign for the Tigers. If they fall short and are upset by LSU, they’ll be tied with rival Auburn for first place in the SEC standings. That could change depending on the outcome of Wednesday’s nightcap in the Top 25 matchup between Alabama and Mississippi State, as the Crimson Tide can take a 0.5-game lead over Auburn with a win.

Coming into the matchup, Auburn ranked No. 1 in the country with an 18-1 overall record this season. They’re 3-1 in true road matchups, with the only loss coming in December against No. 2 Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

After they wrap up their road trip against LSU, they’ll stay on the road to face the No. 23 Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday afternoon live on ESPN.
