Auburn has a National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee on their side this March. Atlanta Braves legend Chipper Jones is rocking with the Tigers, and he was elated following their win over Michigan in the Sweet 16.

The former first baseman has two sons attending Auburn. Evidently, they’ve been trying to get the 52-year old to come for a visit, and Jones chose the perfect time, as the university was in a celebratory mood after their win on Friday evening. Jones even took a trip to Toomer’s Corner afterwards, as he assimilates into the Tigers fandom. Check out his post regarding the moment below.

“Got 2 kids at Auburn. They’ve been wanting me to come down and visit, watch a game, hang out,” Jones posted on X, accompanying a family photo at Toomer’s Corner. “Went to 1716, saw the Tigers make it to the Elite 8. Then we rolled Toomers Corner…..pretty cool!”

All told, it’s easy to see why Jones’ kids wanted him to come through for a game, and he picked a dang good one to enjoy with his family. Auburn didn’t get off to a roaring start against Michigan, but they certainly closed the showdown out in grand fashion, and now the SEC’s top team is on to the Elite Eight, with more at stake than ever.

On Friday, Johni Broome played incredible for Auburn, pumping in 22 points and 16 rebounds. The Tigers’ Denver Jones was also electrifying, pouring in 20 points and grabbing four rebounds. And Auburn freshman Tahaad Pettiford was once again sensational, pumping in 20 points and dishing out three assists.

Now, the stage is set for the Tigers to square off against No. 2 seed Michigan State on Sunday. They’ll battle for a chance to advance to the Final Four, one of the most coveted spots in all of college basketball.

At the moment, Auburn is a 5.5-point favorite against Michigan State, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Additionally, the Tigers boast -230 odds on the money line. Michigan State has +188 odds on the money line.

KenPom, another predictive system for college basketball designed to show how strong a team is at a given time without taking factors like injuries into account, is favoriting the Tigers as well. It’s projecting Auburn to punch its ticket to San Antonio with a five-point win over Michigan State.

That would all be A-OK with Chipper Jones. We’ll see if he sticks around to cheer on Auburn again this Sunday, and if he becomes sort of a good-luck-charm for Bruce Pearl’s team moving forward.
