Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville four-star linebacker D’Angelo Barber holds offers from across the SEC, with more than a half-dozen teams in the country’s premier conference coveting him.

In total, the 6-foot, 205-pounder counts more than 15 offers to his name, but one team is trending heavily for him: Auburn.

Following an expert pick in favor of the Tigers from AuburnLive.com‘s Keith Niebuhr, Auburn holds a 96.3 percent chance of securing his commitment.

Barber is the No. 413 overall prospect and No. 44 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 24 player in Alabama.

On3 rates Barber higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2024 On300, he is the No. 31 linebacker in the country and No. 17 player in Alabama.

Auburn has made D’Angelo Barber feel like a priority

The Tigers have been pushing hard to add him to their class since new head coach Hugh Freeze took over this winter. He is back on The Plains this weekend, his third trip to see the Tigers since late January.

“Auburn is very high on my list right now,” he told AuburnLive last month. “It definitely feels like a place I could call home. I will be back to Auburn. I may end up going back next week. I’m not sure, though.”

Freeze has been a constant in Barber’s recruitment. The head coach contacts Barber on a regular basis. The two spent a lot of time together Wednesday during the visit.

“Man, I love Coach Freeze,” he said. “I love his enthusiasm and honesty and his calm, collected attitude. With Coach Freeze, he talks to you on the same type level as you. He doesn’t use his position as a higher authority or try to belittle you or talk down to you. He’s just a straight-up guy and an all-around great guy.”
