The College GameDay crew broke down the Auburn versus Penn State matchup on Friday ahead of their Saturday showdown. And when asked which team had the advantage, former Georgia Bulldogs standout David Pollack reminded everyone that he is not afraid to make a hot take.

“ I think you have to take into account the crowd. That has to be a big part of it,” said Pollack. “Both teams I don’t know a lot about yet. I don’t know if either one is great, but I do think the home crowd will make a big difference.

“But if we spin it to the other side, for Auburn, at quarterback, I don’t even see one good option. So, I don’t see one with experience or one I trust yet. So, I would lean toward Penn State just because they at least have a quarterback.”

Heading into the season, the Tigers had an intense quarterback battle in spring ball and fall camp. In the end, junior quarterback TJ Finley earned the right to lead the Tigers’ offense to start the season. However, the start of the season has been rough for Finley and the Tigers despite the two wins. So far, he has completed 22 of his 34 pass attempts for 279 yards with just one touchdown. Not terrible until you take into consideration that he has thrown three interceptions during that time. The only other quarterback to attempt a pass for Auburn is freshman Robby Ashford. Ashford is 5-10 for 101 yards with one interception and no touchdowns.

Pollack’s take is something that Auburn fans might have anticipated, given his alma mater. No matter the case, if the Tigers up end the Nittany Lions on Saturday, the former Bulldog will surely have to eat his words.

Auburn drops hype video ahead of Week 3 matchup with Penn State

The Auburn Tigers are set to square off on Saturday against the Penn State Nittany Lions. The game marks the first time any Big Ten opponent has ever come to The Plains. Auburn has been playing college football since 1892, so that’s a pretty unbelievable stat. Check out the hype video the Tigers released this week as they prepare for Penn State and their star running back, Nicholas Singleton.

Singleton, a former five-star recruit in the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2022 cycle, has lived up to the lofty billing early in his Nittany Lion career. He’s currently averaging 10.5 yards per carry–which ranks first among FBS running backs per PFF. Singleton is also averaging 9.3 yards after contact per attempt, which also ranks first among FBS running backs, according to PFF. So clearly, he’ll be a huge focus of the Auburn defensive unit on Saturday.

Luckily for Auburn, they’ve got one of the nation’s leading tailbacks in Tank Bigsby. He’ll be expected to carry much of the offensive workload this season for the Tigers and he’s already racked up 203 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in the first two games.
