Defensive back Keionte Scott announces plans to return to Auburn
Auburn defensive back Keionte Scott will be staying with the program for the 2024 season, he announced on Monday night. The last time we had heard from Scott, he planned on entering the NCAA transfer portal. Now reversing course, it’s a huge win for head coach Hugh Freeze.
“Thankful for the patience and the honest opinions but the REAL know where home is for me,” Scott said via X.
In his 10 appearances this season, Scott was able to record 44 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss. He was one of Auburn’s best cover players, having five pass breakups on the year. Freeze also trusted Scott back there on punt returns, having 222 yards and a touchdown (against Arkansas) on 15 attempts.
Scott played high school football at Helix (CA) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. However, he was a JUCO player who committed to Auburn before the 2022 season. With Scott deciding to come back, this will mark his third season on the Plains.
