Auburn edge rusher Derick Hall represented the Tigers at SEC Media Days. There, he was asked about the offensive lines that he has to face, specifically which offensive line is the toughest to go against.

“I would say, Georgia, I believe, is the toughest,” Derick Hall said. “Alabama has those guys. You know they had Evan Neal. You know, the center a couple years ago who flattened me my freshman year. I forgot his name. I can’t think of it right now.”

Derick Hall has a clear respect for the talent that Alabama puts on the field at offensive line. At the same time, they’re not Hall’s choice as the toughest offensive line to compete against. Georgia is the toughest. That comes down to the coaching and preparation that the Bulldogs put into line play.

“I mean Alabama has a few guys, but Georgia is all across the board. I mean, they play hard, they’re physical, they’re tough, they’re strong. You know, their o-line coach does a good job with those guys and getting those guys to move around well. And just trying to hone in on those small things to help you beat guys like that because, I mean, you know, we’re elite as a d-line. They’re elite as an o-line. So, it comes down to little things, little matchups that you find. So, I would have to say Georgia.”

Derick Hall had 12.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks in 2021. As he enters his senior season with Auburn, he’ll need to have another great season on the edge to help the Tigers compete in the SEC West.
